Welcome to the School of Clinical Therapies


The School of Clinical Therapies is one of the six Schools in the College of Medicine and Health. We offer pre-registration professional degrees in Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy. In addition, we offer a post-qualification Master's and CPD programme in Hearing, Balance and Communication.

Our Mission is to advance health and well-being through world-class, impactful, collaborative research and evidence-based education, underpinned by a core set of inclusive values. 

The School has clinical partnerships with the health service, voluntary organisations and private providers which support our student clinical placement. Additionally, Audiology, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy clinics are situated in the UCC Brookfield Health Sciences Complex.

Our staff pursue research in their respective disciplines which aligns with the UCC Futures focus areas of Future of Health, Ageing and Brain Science, Children and Collective Social Futures. The Dean and Head of School is .

Audio streaming platforms are increasingly being used as effective communication tools to share clinical research, professional insights and best practice with wide and diverse audiences. Podcasts in particular offer an accessible way to support knowledge exchange and ongoing professional dialogue within healthcare disciplines.

Standing strong as you get older- Senior Lecturer Ruth McCullagh highlights importance of Falls Management in the Irish Examiner

Ireland鈥檚 population is ageing rapidly, with the number of people aged 65 and over continuing to rise. As we live longer, supporting healthy, independent ageing becomes increasingly important. One key part of that support is effective Falls Management. Preventing falls helps older adults maintain confidence, mobility, and overall quality of life.

Community Low Back Pain Assessment Day- bringing students together with the local community

Our physiotherapy students played a central role in a recent Community Low Back Pain Assessment Day held in Midleton on 10 March, which welcomed 80 members of the public. Working under supervision, the students carried out detailed one-to-one discussions to understand each person鈥檚 experience of back pain and administered a short, evidence-based screening questionnaire designed to identify levels of risk and guide appropriate advice and support.
